Tomato pickle / Tomato chutney / Tomato thokku

Tomato pickle, Tomato chutney, Tomato thokku ..It can be any name, But it is yummy recipe prepared with ripe red tomatoes. When the time of getting less rate for tomatoes, we will buy more tomatoes. On that time, we will prepare more dishes using tomato like tomato rice, tomato thokku, tomato biriyani, tomato halwa, tomato chutney,..In this dish line, we can prepare tomato pickle. It is very nice recipe and it can be serve with rice or we can use as chutney for idly, dosa. We can preserve this yummy pickle for 1 month in air tight container.

I used only tomatoes in this pickle. I not adding garlic or onions in this pickle. We can have in pooja time, when we are not having onions and garlic. I used gingaly oil (sesame oil) for this. This oil is good for our health like tomatoes.

Tomatoes are having a lot of Vitamins and Minerals in it. It reduce the risk of heart deceases. It regulates digestive system and get relief from constipation. Also tomatoes helps in skin care, hair care and it strengthen our bones.

Basic information :
Preparation time  : 5 Mins
Cooking time  : 20 Mins
Preserve for : 1 Month
Ingredients :
Tomato : 1 Kg
Tamarind : small ball
Gingali oil : 4 Tsp
Mustard seeds : 1/2 Tsp
Curry leaves : 10 Nos
Turmeric powder : 1/4 Tsp
Chilly powder : 1 Tsp
Methy powder : 1/2 Tsp
Asafoetida : 3/4 Tsp
Salt : To taste
Method :
Wash tomatoes and grind with tamarind to make puree. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds.

After the seed pops, add curry leaves.

Add ground tomato puree and mix well.

Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt and mix it well. Close the pan with a lid.

When oil comes out and raw smell goes, add dry methy powder.

Add asafoetida (Hing) powder. Allow it cook for 5 minutes and switch off the flame.

Yummy pickle is ready to serve. We can preserve in air tight container.

Radish chutney

Radish is one of the unusual vegetable in everyone's house. Most of the people doesn't like radish. For those people, We can make radish chutney. In this chutney, radish is a secret ingredient. They doesn't know, this chutney is made with radish. Radish is one of the very healthy vegetable. I already made radish as secret ingredient radish porata. I also post radish fry. We can have this chutney for south Indian breakfast like, Idly, dosa. Very healthy and tasty chutney recipe that everyone should try. Let us see, how to prepare the tasty Radish chutney.
Basic information :
Preparation time : 10 Mins
Serve for : 4 Persons
Ingredients :
Radish : 2 No
Oil : 2 Tsp
Urad dal : 2 Tsp
Onion : 1 No
Garlic : 3 Nos
Curry leaves : Few
Coriander leaves : Few
Tomato : 3 Nos
salt : To taste
Method :
Peel off the radish and grate it. Heat 1/4 Tsp of oil in a pan, add grated radish and saute well. We have to saute well the radish till the raw smell goes. 
Heat 2 teaspoon of oil and add urad dal and make it fry.
After the dal getting golden brown, add onion slices, garlic, curry leaves, coriander leaves and saute well.
Add chopped tomato and saute well. After tomatoes smashed, add fried radish and mix it for 2-3 minutes. Make it cool in room temperature.
After the fried ingredients got cool, grind it with salt and little water as chutney. Serve this yummy chutney with dosa.

peanut chutney

When we are making south Indian breakfasts, our only confusion is, what chutney will prepare. Today, i prepared peanut chutney for dosa. This chutney goes with Lemon rice or  Tamarind rice (Puliogare). This gives different taste from normal chutneys. Quick method of preparation also. Simple chutney that everyone likes. Let us see how to prepare the tasty "Peanut chutney".
Basic information :
Preparation time : 10 Mins
Serve for : 4 Persons
Ingredients :

Peanut : 1/2 Bowl
Grated coconut : 1 Cup
Red chilly : 5 Nos
Tamarind : Small ball
Garlic : 4 Cloves
Curry leaves : Few
Salt : To taste
Method :
Dry fry the peanut and keep it aside. If you are using fried peanut , don't want to fry.
Heat oil in pan, add grated coconut, red chilly, curry leave, garlic and fry.
After fried well, allow it to cool. Then add tamarind, salt, fried peanut and grind with little water as chutney.
That's it!.. the chutney is ready to serve.

How to prepare Onion chutney

Onion chutney is my mother's recipe. She prepares very well and it is very tasty chutney. It goes with idly, dosa. For preparing this chutney, we need only few ingredients. Normally, we using sesame oil for saute chutney. I am also using sesame or gingaly oil (Nallannei) only. We can use sunflower oil also. I am using sambar onion for this chutney. While using sambar onions, we can get good taste and flavor. We can use this chutney for long time or we can pack this for long travel with idly.
Basic information :
Preparation time : 15 Mins
Serve for : 4 Persons
Ingredients :

Sambar onion : 1 Cup
Garlic : 8 Nos
Red chilly : 7 Nos
Tamarind : small ball 
Salt : To taste
Curry leaves : Few
For saute :
Sesame oil : 3 Tsp
Mustard : 1/4 Tsp
Curry leaves : Few
Method :
Grind all the ingredients well as a chutney.
Heat sesame or gingaly oil in a pan, add mustard. After mustard pops, add curry leaves. Add ground chutney and little water and allow it to boil.
After the raw smell goes and oil comes out, transfer to the serving dish and serve with idly or dosa.

How to prepare Beetroot chutney

I always preparing beetroot fry only. My husband will not like this vegetable. Then, i tried this chutney, he likes very much. Beetroot is a nutritious vegetable, that it controls blood pressure and increasing the flow of blood. It helps to improve the digestive system because of having high fiber content. If we add beetroot in every week, we can get glowing skin. This chutney is very tasty and it goes with rice, idly, dosa etc. Before grind the chutney, we have to saute the beetroot well till the raw smell goes. I am very happy to share this to you all. Basic information :
Preparation time : 15 Mins
Serve for : 4 Persons
Ingredients :

Grated beetroot : 1 Cup
Grated coconut : 1/2 Cup
Red chilly : 4 Nos
Tamarind : Small ball
Garlic : 3 Nos
Urad dal : 1 Tsp
Mustard : 1/4 Tsp
Salt : To taste
Oil : 1 Tsp
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, add urad dal, mustard. After mustard pops, add curry leaves.
Add grated beetroot and fry well. We have to saute well till the raw smell goes.
After the beetroot saute well, grated coconut, tamarind, garlic, red chilly and saute well. Switch off the flame and keep it for cool in room temperature.
After getting cool, grind the fried ingredients with adding salt.

How to prepare Onion tomato fried chutney

Onion tomato chutney is a simple and usual chutney. I am going to fry all the ingredients before grind the chutney. In this chutney, i am adding small piece of ginger. It is optional one. If you don't like the ginger smell, we need not to add it. But adding ginger, gives more taste to this chutney. It goes with South Indian breakfast like idly, dosa. Let's prepare the tasty onion tomato fried chutney.
Basic information :
preparation time  : 10 Mins
Serve for : 3 Persons
Ingredients :

Oil : 3 Tsp
Urad dal : 1 Tsp
Mustard : 1/4 Tsp
Chopped onion : 1 Cup
Chopped ginger : 1 Tsp
Garlic : 4 Nos
Curry leaves : Few
Coriander leaves : Few
Red chiily : 6 Nos
Chopped tomato : 1 Cup
Salt : As per taste
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, add urad dal. After urad dal became golden brown, add mustard. After the mustard pops, add chopped onion, ginger, garlic, red chilly, curry leaves, coriander leaves and fry well. Add salt for quick fry.
Add chopped tomatoes and fry well and allow it to cool.
After gets cool, grind as chutney. If we want, we can add water. otherwise, we can have as thick chutney.
Transfer to the serving dish and serve with idly or dosa.

How to prepare mint leaf (puthina) chutney

Puthina chutney (Mint chutney) is the best combination for idly, dosa and all snacks. It can be serve with hot rice also. If you are not feeling hungry in long time, we can have puthina chutney with rice or idly or dosa. It is a best medicine. Puthina chutney is prepared with tamarind and red chilly. So the taste will be little tangy and spicy. Let's prepare the healthy and tasty Mint chutney.
Basic information :
Time consume : 15 Mins
Serve : 3 Persons
Ingredients :
Mint leaves : 1 Cup
Coriander leaves : 1/2 Cup
Garlic : 4 Nos
Tamarind : Small piece
Red chilly : 4 Nos
Coconut pieces : 1/4 Cup
Curry leaves : 7 Nos
Black gram dal : 2 Tsp
Salt : As per taste
Oil  : 2 Tsp
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, add black gram dal (Urad dal) and fry.Add red chilly, garlic, coconut and fry well.
Add mint leaves, coriander leaves, curry leaves and tamarind and fry little.
After the fried ingredients got cool, grind as chutney and serve.
Here! the tasty Mint chutney is ready with idly.

How to prepare Garlic chutney

Garlic chutney is a spicy and very tasteful recipe for idly, dosa and chapathy. Garlic is help to reduce cholastrol in our body. If u add garlic in daily menu, you will be very healthy. In this chutney, i am frying all ingredients separately for more tasty. Come let's prepare tasty Garlic chutney with less ingredients.
Basic information :
Time consume : 15 Mins
Serve : 3 Persons
Ingredients : 
Garlic:1/2 Cup
Tomato:2 Nos
Red chilly:4 Nos
Curry leaves:7 Nos
Mustard:1/4 Tsp
Salt:As per taste
Oil :4 Tsp
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and fry well and keep it aside. We have to fry the garlic till golden brown to avoid the  raw smell of the garlic.
 Add red chilly, fry and keep it aside.
Fry curry leaves and keep it aside.
Cut the tomato into 2 pieces and fry till its skin got shrink.
Allow all the fried ingredients cool. Then grind them.
Heat the fried oil, add mustard. After mustard pops, add curry leaves and ground chutney.
Keep the chutney in low flame for some time and transfer to the serving dish and serve.
