How to prepare Sambar / Bisi bele bath powder

Instead of buying the masala powders outside, we can make and store it. It is always very  useful and healthy also. Making sambar masala is very easy and the aroma also very natural. In ancient days, our mother and grand mothers used to prepare curries with grind masala with their own. After that, we used to buy masala.
I was thinking preparing masala is very tough. But when i started to prepare, i don't go for the out side masala. Come let's prepare the homemade sambar masala. we can use for bisibele bath also.
Basic information :
Preparation time : 15 Mins
Preserve : Long time
Ingredients : 

Coriander seeds : 1 Bowl
Red chilly : 15 Nos
Chana dal : 1/4 Bowl
Toor dal : 1/4 Bowl
Cumin seeds : 2 Tsp
Dry methi : 2 Tsp
Pepper : 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric powder : 1/4 Tsp
Asafoetida powder : 1/4 Tsp
Method :
Fry all the ingredients separately except turmeric powder and asafoetida powder. When we are frying red chilly, we can use 1/4 Tsp of oil.
After frying, add turmeric powder, and asafoetida powder, grind them nicely as powder. Transfer to the air tight container and store it.

How to prepare Chutney powder (Idly milagai podi)

If we prepare chutney powder and preserve is very useful for us. If we have no time to prepare any chutney, we can use chutney powder with gingaly oil. We can add the red chilies, how much we want the spicy.We are preserving all the time at my home. It is the best combination with all South Indian breakfast like Idli, Dosa. We can make chutney also using this powder. Adding coconut, tamarind with this powder and grind with some water will be the very tasty chutney.
Basic information :
Preparation time : 10 Mins
Preserve : Long time
Ingredients :

Black gram dal : 1 Bowl
Rice : 1/4 Bowl
Red chilly : 15 Nos
Curry leaves : Few
Asafoetida powder : 1/2 Tsp
Salt : As per taste
Method :
Heat a pan, fry Black gram dal (Urad dal ), rice, red chilly separately.
While frying red chilly, you can add 1/4 Tsp of oil, so we cannot get cough while frying.
Add asafoetida powder, dry curry leaves, salt and grind as nice powder.Transfer the powder in air tight container.While serving with idli, dosa, we can add the powder with gingaly oil.

How to prepare Garam masala powder at home

Preparing home made powders is very easy and helps to reduce our expenditure. Garam masala powder is made with all spices and i am adding kalpassi in this. It will give more aroma for this masala powder. If we add 1 or 1/2 Tsp of this powder, we can get rich aroma and good experience in taste.
First we can know about Kalpasi. It is a Tamil word. In Hindi it is called as 'Dagar da phool' / Patthar ke phool. In Telugu it is called as 'Kallupachi'. In Kannada it is called as 'Kallu hoovu. it gives rich aroma and taste for the masala. All the other spices are commonly we are using spices.
 Basic information :
Time consume : 10 Mins
Preserve : Long time
Ingredients :

Kalpasi:100 Gm
Cinnamon:100 Gm
Cloves:100 Gm
Cardamon:50 Gm
Fennel seeds:100 Gm
Annasi:20 Nos
Bay leaves:2 Nos
Pepper:50 Gm
Method :
Keep all the spices in direct sunlight for 5 minuets. We should not keep it for long time. After getting full dry, grind the spices well as powder. Keep the powder out for 5 minutes and store it in air tight container.
Everyone try this simple masala powder and you will not buy garam masala in outside.
