Sambar is placed a essential part in South Indian recipies. In this post, I am using simple way to prepare Sambar as typical Tamil Nadu style. Sambar is the best for Idli, Dosa, Vada and also for Rice. Here i am using Sambar powder to make sambar easy and tasty. Everyone try this Simple Sambar and Enjoy!..

Dhaniya | : | 1 Tsp |
Turmeric powder | : | 1/4 Tsp |
Sambar masala | : | 1 Tsp |
Cumin seeds | : | 1/4 Tsp |
Mustard | : | 1/4 Tsp |
Dry methi | : | 1/4 Tsp |
Oil | : | 2 Tsp |
Salt | : | As you Need |
Asafotida | : | 1/4 Tsp |
Tips :
- We can use any vegetable or we can use all the vegetables for Vegetable Sambar.
- Instead of using termerind juice, We can use raw mangoes.
- Brinjal, Drumstick and Mango is a best combination.
- We can use either asafoetida Powder or whole asafoetida.
Method :
Clean Toor dal well, add asafoetida, Turmeric powder and 1/2 Tsp of oil in the Cooker and leave for 2 Whistles and Keep it aside.
Heat Oil in a Kadai add cumin seeds, dry methi (Fenugreek) and mustard.

After mustard pop, add chopped sambar onions, curry leafs and cracked green chilies.
After onion turned brown, add chopped tomatoes and fry.

Close the Kadai till the vegetables are cooked.
After vegetables are cooked, add the cooked dal and allow it to boil for 3 minutes.
Transfer to the serving dish and garnish with dhaniya.
